In Crete, everything begins by the sea with mountains as your backdrop. It is the largest island in Greece and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean, and spans an area of 8300 km² with a coastline of over 1000 km. With a diverse collection of gorges, mountains, beaches as well as cities, towns and traditional villages Crete provides a diverse visual palette for every production.
Archeological Sites
Crete is the birthplace of the first European civilization, the Minoan, which flourished between 3000 BC and 1200 BC mainly in Central and Eastern Crete. Boasting over 50 archaeological sites, at every turn you experience how History and Myth intertwine. For hardly any other place in Europe has such an eventful past as Crete.
Climate
Located in the South Aegean, Crete straddles two climatic zones, the Mediterranean and the North African. This provides warm days for most of the year with long sunshine duration and exceptional quality of light. Snowfall is common in the mountains and south coast beaches are tropical. You can travel from a snowy landscape to a sun filled beach all in one day.
